Catholic School Subsidies

A Message from Fr. Tri about the new School Support Envelope and Catholic Education Subsidies

Dear Parishioners:

You may have noticed the new School Support envelope in our Sunday collection envelope pack. The donation in this envelope helps to pay for the subsidy of $500.00 for each registered student in the catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese. On average each year we pay between $80,000.00 to $90,000.00. We pay this amount from our operational account. We ask you to continue to support our catholic education for our young children. Especially, we ask the parents of the catholic school students to participate more actively in this envelope drive.

After discussing with the financial council, we have come up with the criteria for catholic school students to receive the subsidy from St. Jude parish:

1. The parents and students must be registered in the parish a year before.

2. The parents and students must attend Mass (except during the Covid-19 Mass dispensation) twice a month and use the Sunday or the catholic education envelope.

3. Must participate in other functions of the parish.

Yes, we should support the catholic education, but at the same time we must be fair to other parishioners with the support of the parents as well. These requirements will go into effect for the next school year, 2021-2022, so that parents have time to prepare. The whole purpose of these requirements is to have a complete catholic education; not just school (education), but religious, spiritual, and community as well. We want the parents and children to participate in the life of the community, the parish.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and God bless you and your families.

Fr. Tri
