Help for the Needy

Every November, the Help for the Needy Ministry coordinates a food drive for St. Felix Pantry.

Weekends of November 10th & 17th
THANKSGIVING FOOD AND TOY DRIVE

This year’s Thanksgiving food drive will again benefit St. Felix Pantry. St. Felix is New Mexico’s second largest food pantry and serves New Mexico residents who find themselves in difficult times and are hungry. We are collecting any type of nonperishable food. And because each year they cook and serve a Thanksgiving Day meal for the needy, and anyone who cares to join them, we are also collecting the following:

• Canned cranberry sauce
• Stuffing mix
• Gravy or gravy mix
• chicken broth
• Fresh potatoes and fresh sweet potatoes
• Pies and cakes
• Paper plates (dessert and 10 1/4”)
• Take out boxes
They also will accept cash or checks.

Anyone wishing to donate a ham or turkey is being asked to deliver it directly to the pantry at 4020 Barbara Loop SE, Rio Rancho, NM

Toys and Gift Items
In addition to collecting food, we will also be collecting new children’s toys and
gift items for teenagers for Sister Claire’s Christmas Store that St. Felix sets up in
December. This store is set up so the less fortunate can select a gift item for
their child for Christmas. While toys are always welcome, they usually run short of gift items for  teenagers.

We will be collecting from 4:00 PM Saturday to 5:00 PM Sunday on both weekends.

Help for the Needy is comprised of a group of dedicated volunteers that work to assist members of the community struggling financially. They provide assistance in addition to supplying referral information to other organizations that provide a variety of services. During the holiday season, they collect non-perishable food and distribute food baskets, as well as collecting requested items for local charities. Help for the Needy is always welcoming new members. They meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 8:30am in the Parish Office.
